We focus on showing original work from regional artists based in Kyogle, Northern Rivers and beyond, and encourage applications from further afield, in order to bring different perspectives to the gallery.
Roxy Gallery is committed to a selection process that is fair, transparent and considered, while also creating a diverse and engaging exhibition program for the community.
Applications are assessed by a selection panel against five key areas. You don’t need to address every point individually, but considering the questions below will help you prepare a clear and compelling application.
The panel will consider the strength of your artistic practice, your proposed exhibition, its potential to engage audiences, and its contribution to the cultural life of the Kyogle region. More information on what the panel is looking for is included in the 2027 Exhibition Selection Guide below.
Once applications have been individually assessed, the panel will also consider how the selected exhibitions come together as a balanced annual program, including diversity of artists and practices, mediums and themes, audience engagement, and opportunities for community participation.
As you prepare your application, it may also be helpful to consider the five areas the panel will be looking at.

You don’t need to address each area separately, but including relevant information about your practice, exhibition idea, audiences and community connections will help the panel understand your proposal and what you hope to bring to Roxy Gallery.
Exhibitions are being planned to run for seven weeks, though this may vary depending on scheduling.
We charge a gallery fee of $435 inc GST. This fee covers all the support and services mentioned above, ensuring your exhibition is professionally presented and promoted.
A 50% discount on Gallery Exhibition Hire fees may be available for registered non-profit organisations within the Kyogle LGA where applicable.

Applications open Wednesday 30 September 2026 and close at 5pm Friday 30 October 2026.

The purpose of an artist bio is to provide a concise overview of your artistic journey, highlighting your background, inspirations, and achievements.
It should include your artistic focus, key accomplishments, education or training, and any notable exhibitions or projects.
There are many resources online to help you get started, you can attend one of our public information sessions for guidance or head to Arts Northern Rivers for free professional development resources and courses.
An Exhibition Statement is to provide insight into the theme, concept, or inspiration behind your proposed exhibition.
It helps viewers understand the meaning or context of the show. It should include the ideas, processes, or messages driving the work.
As you prepare your application, it may also be helpful to consider the five areas the panel will be looking at (see Roxy PEOI Selection Guide PDF for details).

Your work doesn’t need to be framed, but if it’s to be hung, it must have appropriate hanging fixings.

Absolutely!
We welcome work in any medium or format, as long as it meets safety standards (e.g., no biohazards, weight limits, etc.) and we can figure out a way to display it. We love showcasing diverse and innovative art forms.
While there are no strict size limits, we do need to ensure your work fits within our gallery space and meets safety requirements for moving.
Please contact us if you have specific concerns or particularly heavy or bulky work.

This fee covers promotional support, installation, a launch event, and staffed gallery hours during the exhibition.
Your exhibition will receive professional promotion, installation, a launch event, and staffed gallery hours during opening times and support you might need in planning.

The gallery takes a commission of 22% on sold artworks, be sure to factor this into your pricing.
Smaller items like cards, art prints and jewellery may also be a good fit for display in the Roxy Gallery Shop. Commission for shop items is 12%.
Roxy Gallery provides public liability insurance for use of the space. This does not cover the artwork exhibited as part of your show. If you’d like your artwork to be insured, then you will need to take out your own insurance for damages on your artworks. See the following resources to find information:
Note – you are not required to take out insurance. Roxy Gallery caters to a range of artists, from early career to more established artists and the decision to take out insurance can depend on where you are at in your career. Roxy Gallery is staffed when it is open to the public, and locked when the gallery is closed.
Not at all! We’d love to be the first gallery to showcase your work.
No. We do prioritise artists from the Kyogle and the Northern Rivers and artists living regionally elsewhere. However, we welcome applications from artists everywhere.
Yes, the gallery has an elevator with a weight limit of 300kg.
If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know so we can accommodate you.
The gallery is an open space, lit with spotlights that are arranged at many different angles. While it’s generally quiet, noise levels can increase during events like exhibition launches.
We have individual male and female toilets, as well as a large all-gender accessible toilet.
