The Roxy Gallery is now home to Works in Wood, a new exhibition by Northern Rivers artist Garan Hale, celebrating the beauty, character and possibilities of salvaged Australian timber.

More than 160 people gathered at the Roxy Gallery on Saturday 19 September, 2026 to celebrate the exhibition opening, making it a wonderful afternoon of art, conversation and community.

Garan’s practice is grounded in a deep respect for Australian timbers and the stories held within them. Working with salvaged wood, he creates finely crafted furniture and objects using traditional joinery techniques, allowing the natural character of each piece to remain at the heart of the work.

The exhibition also explores ideas of sustainability and circular craftsmanship, including a display that invites visitors to learn more about the different local timbers used in Garan’s work.

Works in Wood is on display at the Roxy Gallery until 8 November, 2026.

The Roxy Gallery is open to visitors throughout the exhibition, with free entry. Come upstairs and take a look at this beautiful celebration of timber, craftsmanship and the creative possibilities found close to home.
